Sailing Albania (“we”, sailingalbania.com) is an independent charter-specialist service matching guests with selected partner fleets in Albania. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and your rights under the EU GDPR. It's written to be read by humans.
1. Who is the data controller
The controller is the operator of Sailing Albania, reachable via WhatsApp at +39 351 476 6918 or email at starthubproject1@gmail.com. Your charter contract is always directly with the partner fleet that owns the boat.
2. What data this website collects
Almost none. This is a static website: no contact forms, no user accounts, no newsletters, no comment systems. We use no advertising pixels, remarketing tags or third-party analytics that profile you. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and operational purposes; these are retained briefly and never used for marketing.
3. What happens when you contact us on WhatsApp or email
Tapping a WhatsApp button opens a chat with our number (+39 351 476 6918) on WhatsApp, a service of Meta Platforms, whose privacy policy then also governs that conversation — we invite you to read it. Writing to starthubproject1@gmail.com routes your email through the mail provider's servers under its own terms. In both cases we process what you voluntarily share — typically name, dates, group size, licence photo for bareboat enquiries and any preferences — for one purpose only: matching you with the right boat and arranging your charter quote. The legal basis is pre-contractual measures taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
4. Your licence photo and documents
For bareboat enquiries we ask for a photo of your sailing licence: it's used solely to confirm acceptance with the fleets before booking, shared only with the fleet(s) quoting for your dates, never published and never used for any other purpose. Ask for it to be deleted after the quote stage and it will be.
5. Who we share data with
Only with the partner fleet(s) needed to quote and operate your charter — dates, group size and licence status go to whoever must evaluate the booking. We never sell data, never share it with advertisers, never add you to marketing lists. Fleets are instructed to use your data exclusively for the quote and the charter.
6. What we don't collect
We don't take payments, so we never see card data. We don't request ID documents or special-category data beyond what you share voluntarily. Please don't send sensitive documents via WhatsApp or email — we don't need them.
7. Cookies
This site uses no profiling cookies, so no cookie banner is legally required. Any cookies present are strictly technical (hosting, security) and don't identify you for marketing.
8. Retention
Conversations related to a quote or charter are kept for the time needed to perform them and for statutory retention obligations. Conversations that don't lead to a booking — documents included — can be deleted on your request at any time.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing, at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.
10. Changes
If we ever add features that change data handling (analytics, an online quote system), we'll update this page before enabling them. The version date is shown at the top.
